North Yorkshire Police are noticing a rise in incidents of fraud where the victim is asked to pay an outstanding debt by means of i-tunes vouchers. The voucher numbers are then provided to the fraudster as means of payment. As a result Action Fraud is launching an awareness raising campaign.
Further information can be found at https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/news/stay-tuned-to-fraud-as-6.5m-is-lost-to-gift-card-fraud-aug18
Please be aware, fraudsters will often use intimidation tactics to persuade the victim into paying the debt. Remember HMRC or similar organisations will never ask for payment in i-tune vouchers
