Annual Parish meeting

Residents are invited to the Annual Parish meeting at 7pm on Tuesday 19th April at Bradley Methodist Chapel schoolroom. This meeting is for residents to discuss issues/concerns in the village. If you have any questions you would like to ask please could you send them to bradleysbothparishcouncil@gmail.com before 15th April. The meeting will be followed by the normal Parish Council meeting at 7.30pm. Agendas for both are on the website.

Ready for Anything

Ready for Anything website Local councils in North Yorkshire and York may be interested to see the Ready for Anything website and to promote it to groups/organisations within the parish. The scheme was set up by York CVS and City of York Council following the Boxing Day floods in 2015. Following the success of the initial scheme, funding has been given by North Yorkshire County Council via NESTA and Ready for Anything has been adopted by the North Yorkshire Local Resilience Forum and is now rolled out across the whole of North Yorkshire and York.

Planned Road Closure High Bradley Lane

PLANNED ROAD CLOSURE NOTIFICATION – 33635 – High Bradley Lane, Low Bradley                                           

The Closure will be in place for a period of 7 days between 19th April 2022 and 25th April 2022 to allow Northern Powergrid to install a new electricity connection. Acees for residents will be maintained as there is no possible diversion.

Parish Council Elections

The election on 5th May includes Bradleys Both Parish Council. Would you like to be a Councillor for the parish? If you are interested, are over 18 years old and live in, (or within 3 miles of Bradley) you may be eligible to stand. The Parish Council has seven Members, if less than seven people apply to be a Councillor, those who do apply will be co-opted to the Council, if more apply, then an election will be held. Electric Vehicle Charging Point consulation

We want your views about installing EVCs on one or two sites in the village; the Village Hall car park and the canalside car park adjacent to the electricity pole. We are looking at different funding options which could enable either the village or a commercial/charitable enterprise to own and maintain the EVCs.
Users will pay for the electricity consumed. We intend that the majority of customers will be short term visitors and residents without off road parking.
Both sites are feasible.
Currently, the Village Hall has capacity for twin 7kw chargers.
At the canal site, Northern Powergrid will make a 3 phase connection to the
existing overhead line giving a capacity of twin 22kw chargers.

Avian Flu Update

The Chief Veterinary Officers for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have agreed to bring in new measures to help protect poultry and captive birds. The new housing measures will come into force across the UK from 00:01 on Monday 29 November 2021 to protect poultry and captive birds from avian influenza following a number of confirmed cases across Great Britain in recent weeks. The declaration for the second premises near Leeming Bar, Hambleton, North Yorkshire has been amended and the map reference and map have been updated

Further testing has confirmed that the avian influenza strain in birds at the following premises as highly pathogenic (HPAI H5N1):

  • second premises near Thirsk, Hambleton, North Yorkshire
  • second premises near Leeming Bar, Hambleton, North Yorkshire
  • premises near Thirsk, Hambleton, North Yorkshire

Following confirmation of the pathogenicity, the Temporary Control Zones have been revoked and replaced by 3km Protection Zone and 10km Surveillance Zone around each of the premises.
